Entrepreneur Stefan Messer Honored for His Life's Achievement

At the Asia Pacific Industrial Gas Conference 2025 in Bangkok, which is an international industry conference for industrial gas manufacturers, Stefan Messer was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award by gasworld, the industry-leading media platform. Stefan Messer, Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Messer, received this honor on December 3 in Bangkok for his commitment to people, innovation, performance, and safety in the industrial gas market, according to the media platform's laudatory speech. “This is gasworld's way of recognizing Stefan Messer's dedication and devotion to both the industry and to the Messer Group and everything and everyone it stands for,” says Rob Cockerill, Global Content Director at gasworld. Within Messer itself, the location of the award ceremony is considered very fitting. “During his time in operations, Stefan Messer made a significant mark on the industrial gases industry,” says Messer CEO Bernd Eulitz. “With entrepreneurial courage, he connected countries in the ASEAN region in particular to industrial gases as a resource in order to drive economic growth in local industry.”

Stefan Messer accepted further awards for the company as part of an international innovation contest. Messer Europe was awarded in the category ‘Digital Innovation & Operations Management’ for its digital cylinder gas bundle MegaPack D. "Our winning project shows that innovation is an integral part of our company culture and is driven by our employees and strongly supported by collaboration and opening doors for new ideas," says Virginia Esly, COO Messer Europe. Messer’s MegaPack D technology is providing our customers with an automated, safe and efficient gas supply. The jury also acknowledged the digital fill level control and the option to access further services provided by Messer, such as the automatic reordering. "With MegaPack D, we offer an outstanding innovative solution for the European market, which is highly valued by our customers," Virginia Esly continues. Messer's digital cylinder gas bundles are used in a wide range of industrial applications in the automotive, manufacturing, electronics & semiconductor sector, as well as in the laboratory and food industry.

In the category ‘Most Impactful ESG Initiative’, Messer's project ‘Climate-friendly CO₂ production from natural sources using renewable energies in North Macedonia’ was additionally recognized as runner-up. CO₂ from a natural source, which would otherwise be released into the atmosphere, is captured, purified and liquefied and made available as a valuable resource. By utilizing renewable solar energy in the production process and on-site e-mobility, this project contributes to decarbonization. “This award recognizes the commitment and hard work of our highly dedicated team in North Macedonia. It is important for us at Messer to drive ESG projects in all our European countries, also in smaller geographies such as North Macedonia,” concluded Virginia Esly.
