Environmental and climate protection: Messer to take part in earth hour

This year, the world's largest family-run industrial gases specialist Messer participated in Earth Hour for the fourth time and turned off the lights at its sites in Krefeld and Bad Soden from 8.30 pm to 9.30 pm on March 26th. Organized by WWF, Earth Hour is the biggest climate and environmental protection initiative worldwide. In 2021, Earth Hour saw record participation levels in Germany with a total of 585 towns and municipalities taking part, joined by 448 companies at 716 sites.

Environmental and climate protection forms an integral part of Messer¡¯s values: Messer gases and know-how make an important contribution to the UN¡¯s declared aim of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. ¡°To this end, we are minimizing our own carbon footprint and helping our customers to reduce CO2 emissions in their processes. This is made possible thanks to the effectiveness of our gas applications and an efficient supply of gases, but also through the use of hydrogen,¡± explains Stefan Messer, CEO of Messer SE & Co. KGaA, adding: ¡°We see green hydrogen as a key means of decarbonizing industry and mobility. Our focus here is on three main areas: the cost-effective production of green hydrogen on site, refueling solutions for local public transport and the logistics sector, as well as operator models for fuel-cell-powered buses.¡±

Once again this year, Messer is switching off the lights at its locations in Krefeld and Bad Soden on the occasion of Earth Hour.
