Messer has won the Fikomm-Award 2009 for best financial communication within the medium-sized business sector in the category of companies with sales of over 100 million euros. The award is endowed with prize money of 10,000 euros which Messer will donate to the Dr. Hans-Messer-Sozialstiftung.

 

For the third time, the credit insurer Euler Hermes, Commerzbank, the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and the Federation of German Industries (BDI) have awarded the prize for transparent, regular and comprehensive communication by a company with its financial partners. "Many companies are suffering particularly badly from the financial crisis because they do not know where they stand. Our monthly financial reporting creates an important internal and external transparency - not just for our cooperation with our creditors", says Dr. Hans-Gerd Wienands, Chief Financial Officer of the Messer Group. The reports on business development and the financial situation as well as consolidated accounts, budget and forecast are also used by the Messer Group for internal management of the Group, which is active in over 30 countries with around 120 companies.

 

Nine companies had been nominated for the Fikomm-Award. The award ceremony took place in the Vulkanhalle in Cologne under the patronage of the Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg.
