Donation from Messer to Sichuan Earthquake Victims will exceed 1.4 million RMB

On May 12, at 2:28PM, a disastrous earthquake of measuring 8 on the Richter Scale hit Wenchuan county in Sichuan Province. So far nearly 70,000 lost their lives and widespread damage was caused in the earthquake.

Right after the earthquake, Messer China Corporate Office contacted the employees in Sichuan Messer(SiMG) and Chengdu Chenggang Messer(CMG), and confirmed that no employee and no equipment from this region was injured. Meantime, Messer China management distributed the donation proposal to all employees. According to statistics, Messer China's 11 companies donated 10,700,000 RMB totally; 1200 employees donated nearly 200,000 RMB, and Dr. Hans Messer Sozialstiftung, the Messer family's social foundation, has also donated 13,000 euros. When participating in the donation ceremony hosted by the Shanghai Branch of China Red Cross Society in Luwan District, Helmut Schneider, CEO of Messer China, wrote the following words on the board "Messer feels with China!"

In addition, as a manufacturer of medical oxygen who has two plants in Chengdu, Messer was proud to participate in the fight of saving lives. During the first several days after quake, Messer was on standby 24 hours to produce and distribute as much oxygen as possible to guarantee the requirement from local hospitals. Besides, Messer will donate the income of the entire month from medical oxygen of its Chengdu plants to the local Red Cross.
